“I don't accept a best practice just because everyone else does.”
For six years I've worked on project strategy and implementation problems in IT and in architecture, engineering and construction, across academic, manufacturing, technology, AEC and real estate organizations. They varied enormously in size and sector. The surprise was how often they had the same problems: knowledge that never reached the work, procedures nobody followed, and best practices nobody had checked.
I go to the sources, I weigh the evidence, and I don't accept a claim because it's popular. The Best Practices and Standards Database grew out of that habit: years of collected practices, each one checked against what the evidence and experience actually say, and labelled honestly when they don't.
I spent five years designing and running role-play scenarios. Digital tools have since made it possible to build scenarios that fit each person and each organization, and that's what Out of Scope Productions does today.
I'm a neurodivergent creative. I tend to see systems and patterns other people miss, and I know first-hand that people learn in different ways. I help organizations make sure their best practices are well defined, put into practice, actually followed, and regularly reviewed and adapted.
